A squirrel-watching session

People almost fled home from work as a plague spread across the streets. Then perhaps they arrived on their side of the road, as I did. The sidewalk is narrow, and you must go around, and overtake. Now there was a group on the corner. A few adults and many children, all looking up. A squirrel crawled on the power line from one tree to the next with magical comfort. A big car was turning and they could see it through the windscreen. The other squirrel was scampering along the branches. The buds hadn't yet come out - as my son noted in the morning - so the birds and four-legged creatures couldn't hide. However, we - sinful hearts - were happier for it. These squirrels might be in love.

A kegyelem

A kegyelem az egyik legszebb emberi teljesítmény. A kegyelem a szenvedéstől szabadít meg. Esetleg olyan embert is, aki másnak okozott szenvedést. A kegyelem ugyanakkor nem megbocsátás és nem elfelejtés. A kegyelem nem az áldozat megcsúfolása, hanem az áldozat szenvedésének elismerése. A kegyelem a bosszú ellentéte.

Hard to say where to go

About three weeks ago, I finished the first version of my new manuscript. I wrote it in Hungarian and I also made some illustrations like this. I am wondering whether I should translate the book into English before publishing it in Hungarian.

I asked ChatGPT about traslation possibilities

Gergely Fliegauf 2 / 2 How to translate my novel written in Hungarian language to English in a most cost effective way?
There are several ways to translate your novel from Hungarian to English in a cost-effective way. Here are some options:
Use an online translation tool: You can use online translation tools like Google Translate, DeepL, or Microsoft Translator to get a rough translation of your novel. However, keep in mind that these tools are not always accurate and may miss the nuances of the language. Therefore, it is recommended to use them as a starting point and not as the final version.
Hire a freelance translator: You can hire a freelance translator who specializes in Hungarian to English translation.
You can find freelance translators on websites such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer. It is important to make sure that the translator you hire has experience in translating literature and can provide you with samples of their previous work.
Use translation software: You can use translation software such as SDL Trados or MemoQ to translate your novel. These software programs use machine translation, but with the added benefit of translation memory and terminology management, which can improve the quality of the translation.
Submit your novel to a translation competition: Some translation competitions offer free or low-cost translation services as part of the competition prize. You can research translation competitions for your novel's genre and language combination and see if any of them offer translation services.
Apply for translation grants: Some organizations offer translation grants to support the translation of literary works. You can research translation grants for your novel's genre and language combination and see if you are eligible to apply.
It is important to note that while some of these options may be cost-effective, they may not always provide the best quality translation. It is recommended to evaluate the cost, quality, and timeline of each option before making a decision.

Remember Turkeve Disaster

In 2022 a 200 cubic meter hydro globus was demolished in Turkeve, Hungary. A random video was found on YouTube. After the collapse of the water tower, some people made photos standing on the metal frame of the body. The water tower was allegedly built in 1965. The city council decided to destroy it. This was the time when Gergely Fliegauf, a Hungarian criminologist and psychologist published his book "Mentem, almodtam" (I was going and dreaming). The book is about a magic journey to the other side of the Moon on the board of a water tower exactly like the one was collapsed in Turkeve. The protagonist has an old friend in his dreams, his first playground love and his "dream couple" as a company, they land on the Moon, where they meet the "new children" who are the emanations of the unborn children. These little folks can manipulate the chakras of the visitors and heal all psycho traumas of the past while moving them with their tiny hands using their unique inverted clairvoyance technique. Some rumours say that there are no dialogues in G Fliegauf' first book, and the characters do not have any names. Those who can not read in Hungarian, can not understand a word of the book, but some say they have the same dream as what is described in the book as well: planet Earth inflates to the size of Jupiter and giant mushrooms appear on the surface. These species (Prototaxites) were extinct about 400 million years ago, but miraculously they invade the soil again. It would be really nice to translate this book.
